"The name sake HeLa Negative is in honor of Henrietta Lacks. A black woman who’s cervical cancers cells proved to be immortal. Since the late 1950’s her cells were used to create and test countless treatments in the bio-medical field thus saving innumerable lives as a result. She was never told about this truth and her family was never compensated after her death. She was 31 when she died, a year younger than me now. Innumerable billions have been made off of the research and medicines. With countless lives saved. Black people statistically have lower quality medical care and lesser access to medical resources. Her cells continue to save lives and heal people globally. People of color continue to contribute and lay groundwork for creativity and joy in so many fields often time bringing beauty to worlds that don’t understand them.

After World is derived from many stimuli. Science-fiction, bio-engineering and spiritual ideas of the divine feminine are just some of the conceptualization my mind is drawn to. During this time when my people are and all humans are perpetually faced with extinctions, it becomes a forced evolution. American ideals and morals how they infect everything with violence will destroy this country sadly. i think trying to wake people up with violence will only put us into a deeper sleep conscious wise but at least if we die we can try to save our souls by doing something real for once in our god forsaken lives escaping this dream. Even the rocks will cry out or the ground itself will be cultivated with Hela cells and give birth to black people even when powers seek to wipe people of color out. Hopefully those who are before us and have passed in all of this have immortal peace.

Rawaat and I discussed the best way to help while being safe during a global pandemic and just also being realistic about protesting and putting ourselves in foolish danger. So releasing something in-lieu of all the just blatant brutality and use of force in Detroit and in knowing that black people and people of color whatever orientations, gender or sexual, have lesser medical care so with this release we’ll be donating the money to medical funds that are seeking to relieve those on the front lines standing in the streets of Detroit in unity." - HeLa Negative
